What is CONAA? The Council on Nursing and Anthropology (CONAA) is an organization of nurse-anthropologists who meet twice each year, once
at the Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA)
meetings in the spring, and once
at the American Anthropology Association (AAA)
meetings in the Fall. For the
past three decades, the Council on Nursing and Anthropology (CONAA) has gathered
nurse-anthropologists under the umbrella of the Society of Medical Anthropology
(SMA). CONAA’s mission is to explore culture and client care, the teaching of
culture, and the preparation of nurses as culturally-competent caregivers.
