CONAA Officer and Committee Responsibilities


President
  • Collaborate with CONAA Executive Board (Officers) on:
    • Agenda for CONAA business meetings
  • Publications:
    • Newsletter
    • Member Directory
    • Member Bibliography
  • Web Site Construction and Maintenance
  • Membership recruitment
  • Conduct CONAA business meetings
  • Represent and report on CONAA at the Society for Medical Anthropology business meeting and meetings of special interest groups.
  • Plan and reserve room for business meetings, receptions, and other functions.
  • Due date: Rooms must be reserved by the due date for abstracts.
  • For AAA, arrange a room through the SMA Special Interest Group Coordinator (approximately September of each year)
  • For SfAA, contact the Program Chair (approximately January of each year)
  • Communicate with other organizations on behalf of CONAA.
  • Consult with Council of Past Presidents as necessary.
  • Appoint Nominations Committee and oversee election process.





President-Elect
  • Fill-in for president as necessary.
  • Assume responsibilities as delegated by President.
  • Develop and coordinate CONAA symposiums/sessions at meetings of the American Anthropological Association and Society for Applied Anthropology.
  • Assist President and other officers with planning and implementation of CONAA activities.
  • Potential added: Assume prime responsibility for overseeing web-site (Not web master). To be discussed at CONAA meeting at Chicago AAA.





Secretary
  • Keep updated membership list.
  • Take minutes at CONAA business meetings.
  • Oversee the updating and distribution of membership directory and bibliography (every two years). NOTE: This may be modified with web site in place.
  • Organize and distribute Newsletter (quarterlymay need to rethink frequency once web site is functioning).
  • Maintain correspondence with membership and others.
  • Assist President and other officers in planning and implementing CONAA activities.





Treasurer
  • Notify membership of dues renewal.
  • Collect dues.
  • Send membership information to Secretary.
  • Pay bills.
  • Prepare Treasurer's Report for CONAA business meetings.
  • Assist President and other officers in planning and implementing CONAA activities.





Ad Hoc Committees
  • Nominations Committee
    • Solicit members to run for offices (minimum of 2 per office)
    • Distribute officer responsibilities list to candidates for office
    • Send out Ballots by April 30
    • Announce election results by September 15
    • Help with the installation of officers at the November business meeting that coincides with AAA.
  • Awards Committee
    • Monitor available awards offered through Transcultural Nursing Society, Society for Medical Anthropology, and the American Anthropological Association.
    • Nominate CONAA members for these awards as appropriate
    • Write letters of support as appropriate
    • Develop awards for CONAA members (student awards, research awards, CONAA award for excellence?)
    • Administer the CONAA awards process under the direction of the Treasurer.
    • Report to the membership at each business meeting about the available CONAA awards, other awards, and recipients to date.
